The Reverend Dominic P. Irace was raised and educated in New York City. He completed his elementary and high school education in New York and attended the New York School of Design and The Julliard School of Music. After two years of work in the city, he began his studies for the priesthood at Holy Apostles Seminary/College in Connecticut, where he served as President of the Student Body, and is listed in the 1970-71 issue of Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. After graduation from Holy Apostles, he was asked by Bishop Russell, the Bishop of Richmond, to continue and complete his Theological studies at both European Seminaries operated by the American Bishops: The Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, and the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He holds advanced graduate degrees from both Universities. He was ordained at Saint Peter's Basilica, at the Vatican by Pope Paul VI, in the Holy Year of 1975.
